Choose the opening that matches your experience in this Automotive Mechanic / WoF Inspector recruitment in Auckland, New Zealand. The growing independent workshop has two permanent, full-time positions, Monday to Saturday, at $30 - $45 per hour.
Position 1 combines general workshop work with WoF inspections under NZTA requirements and requires current WoF Inspector authority. Position 2 focuses on servicing, diagnosis, mechanical repairs and WoF-related repairs. As an AEWV accredited employer, the business is approved by Immigration New Zealand to sponsor hires under the Accredited Employer Work Visa.

Key Responsibilities
- Service and maintain vehicles, using workshop tools and diagnostic equipment to identify faults.
- Repair steering, brakes and suspension, and complete wheel alignment and related suspension checks.
- Inspect, fit and rotate tyres.
- Repair engines, cooling systems, electrical systems and other mechanical components.
- Carry out pre-WoF inspections and WoF-related repair work.
- Record completed work on job cards and in repair documentation.
- Maintain safe workshop practices and high-quality workmanship while communicating professionally with customers.
- For Position 1, perform WoF inspections that meet NZTA requirements.
Requirements & Eligibility
- Bring solid automotive mechanical experience and the ability to work independently.
- Have good diagnostic and problem-solving skills, together with good attention to detail and workmanship.
- Be reliable, honest and professional, with good communication skills.
- Hold a full NZ driver's licence.
- An NZ automotive qualification is preferred.
- For Position 1, current WoF Inspector authority is required.
