Keeping trucks, trailers and equipment ready for the road is the focus of this Mechanic position in Hamilton, New Zealand. Based in a transport company's onsite workshop, the permanent full-time role combines scheduled servicing with mechanical repairs and fault diagnosis.
You will work alongside a practical workshop team, inspecting the fleet and identifying maintenance needs before completing work safely and to a high standard. Basic automotive electrical work forms part of the position. The transport business is an approved accredited employer with Immigration New Zealand (INZ) for work visa sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities
- Inspect fleet vehicles and equipment to establish their maintenance needs.
- Complete routine maintenance, servicing and repairs on trucks, trailers and equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical problems and carry out basic automotive electrical tasks, including fault-finding.
- Maintain safe working practices and a high standard of completed work.
- Keep tools and work areas organised within a tidy workshop.
Requirements & Eligibility
- A qualified mechanic or relevant mechanical experience; heavy vehicle, truck or trailer experience is preferred.
- Competence in carrying out basic automotive electrical work.
- A practical, hands-on approach and strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and contribute effectively to a team.
- Commitment to health and safety, and ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
