Accurate records of existing buildings underpin this Architectural Draftsperson position in Sydney, NSW. Working within a growing multidisciplinary consultancy, you will connect measured site information with architectural drawings and planning submissions for residential and medium-density properties. Some projects involve reinstatement or redesign after damage caused by fire, trees or vehicles.
The work extends beyond drawing production: consultant coordination, planning documentation and the progress of Development Applications all form part of the role. Sponsorship is available to suitably qualified candidates. Careful technical judgement and the ability to organise work with limited supervision are central to the position.

Key Responsibilities
- Measure residential and medium-density properties on site and document their existing condition in accurate architectural drawings.
- Develop preliminary layouts and identify structural elements that need to appear in the documentation.
- Review LEPs, DCPs and development requirements to prepare Statements of Environmental Effects and associated planning material.
- Compile Development Application packages, lodge them through the planning portal and follow the progress of DA submissions.
- Bring together designer input and advice from heritage, bushfire, stormwater, structural, civil, surveying and arboricultural consultants.
- Produce 2D AutoCAD documentation in model and paper space to the required drafting standards, checking completeness, accuracy and consistency and resolving technical issues.
- Communicate what projects require to clients, consultants and colleagues, manage your deadlines independently and suggest practical improvements as the consultancy expands.
Requirements & Eligibility
- Experience gained in architectural drafting, planning or a closely related profession, supported by relevant qualifications and/or substantial practical industry experience; experienced architectural drafters are encouraged to apply.
- Demonstrated proficiency using 2D AutoCAD and a sound understanding of drafting standards and drawing office procedures.
- Practical experience measuring existing buildings, interpreting site conditions and recording these accurately in drawings.
- Understanding of residential and medium-density architectural documentation, with experience preparing or supporting Development Applications.
- Working knowledge covering NSW LEPs, DCPs, planning requirements and documents including Statements of Environmental Effects.
- An accurate, detail-focused approach, with the analytical ability to resolve technical problems.
- Confidence coordinating multiple consultants and communicating with clients and project stakeholders.
- Strong organisation and time management, taking responsibility for assigned work with limited supervision.
- Professional English in speech and writing, together with working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe applications.
- Availability to start as soon as possible.
