A New Zealand manufacturer is seeking an Automation Technician. The appointee will take responsibility for PLCs and control systems, diagnose faults, and contribute to plant improvements and automation projects, working with automation specialists who have wider experience and cover several of the employer's sites.
The post follows a 45-hour weekday pattern, with 7am the usual start. Project work is plentiful, and the position offers practical exposure to AI, robotics and advanced manufacturing technologies.
The employer will give preference to suitably qualified applicants based in New Zealand, while encouraging experienced overseas applicants to apply. Its statement is that sponsorship under the Accredited Employer Work Visa may be available for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
- PLC programming, fault resolution and commissioning
- Support of HMI and SCADA systems
- Delivery of automation upgrades and continuous improvement projects
- Diagnosis of faults in electrical and control systems
- Contribution to plant reliability and performance
- Coordination with engineering, maintenance and production teams, and assistance with integrating new automation technologies
Requirements & Eligibility
- Electrical trade qualification or an equivalent qualification
- Ideally 4-5+ years in manufacturing or industrial automation
- Experience with common PLC platforms
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills, and the ability to read electrical drawings and control schematics
- Self-motivated and practical
