Before a large new Auckland property opens, its General Manager will help turn the plans into a working hospitality operation. This senior, full-time position sits within a group operating hostels and hybrid hotel-hostel stays with food and beverage venues across Australia and New Zealand. Salary is $125,000 - $135,000 per year.
The intended start is January 2027, with opening planned for March. Department heads will report to you, bringing guest experience, commercial performance and operational standards within your remit. Key Responsibilities
- Direct the Host, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage and Maintenance departments through their reporting heads.
- Be accountable for the guest experience, financial performance, team culture, standards and compliance.
- Collaborate with the wider team before launch to establish the operation, assemble its leadership and shape its culture from planning through opening.
- After opening, support department leaders and coordinate the operation so that teams stay aligned.
Requirements & Eligibility
- Have managed a busy hotel or hostel and understand lodging, yield management and the factors behind commercial performance.
- Be comfortable handling labour, budgets, revenue and cost control.
- Bring some food and beverage exposure, ideally from bars, restaurants or busy social venues.
- Familiarity with Auckland hospitality and lodging is helpful but not essential.
