A busy Perth trailer workshop with a well-established presence is recruiting a Heavy Vehicle Body Builder / Trailer Mechanic on a full-time basis.
The position combines structural and mechanical responsibilities. Structurally, you will carry out fabrication, welding, structural repairs and bodywork for a broad range of trailer makes and models, interpreting technical drawings where required. Mechanically, you will inspect and service trailers, diagnose faults and complete repairs, covering brakes, suspension and running gear. The role also calls for practical, hands-on problem-solving.
Overseas applicants who are suitably qualified may be considered for 482 visa sponsorship, subject to the relevant visa and occupation requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Fabrication and welding for trailer builds and repairs
- Structural repairs and bodywork across a broad range of trailer makes and models
- Inspection, servicing, fault diagnosis and repair of trailers
- Brake, suspension and running gear work
- Interpreting technical drawings and resolving problems through a hands-on approach
Requirements & Eligibility
- Strong welding and fabrication skills, plus hands-on familiarity with steel and aluminium
- Competence in interpreting technical drawings
- Demonstrated heavy vehicle and trailer experience
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills, plus experience with electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Knowledge of trailer running-gear brands, for example BPW, SAF, Hendrickson and K-Hitch
- Appropriate trade qualifications and/or solid experience within the industry
- Ideally, an HR or other truck licence, a forklift licence, confined space certification, intermediate rigging and overhead crane experience
