Keeping a horticultural packing operation running reliably is the focus of this full-time Maintenance Technician / Fitter position in Bundaberg, QLD, Australia. The work combines preventive servicing, mechanical repairs and practical improvements to packing equipment within an established, growing national business with vertically integrated operations.
You will join a small maintenance team reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor. Peak production requires flexibility for additional hours and occasional Saturdays, while harvest periods involve some travel to another packing facility in the Northern Territory. Visa sponsorship is available for suitably qualified candidates. Alongside fault diagnosis, the role involves helping colleagues and contractors operate machinery correctly and maintaining safety and quality records.

Key Responsibilities
- Locate mechanical faults, complete servicing and repair packing-line machinery and associated equipment.
- Recommend practical changes that improve equipment reliability and operating efficiency.
- Help colleagues and contractors understand the correct way to operate machinery.
- Apply safety procedures and keep the required quality documentation in order.
- Complete further maintenance work assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
Requirements & Eligibility
- Hold relevant mechanical trade qualifications, ideally as a Fitter (General) or Maintenance Fitter, with experience of packing lines or food processing machinery.
- Bring industrial machinery maintenance and repair experience, supported by strong mechanical diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
- Understand motors and pumps as well as pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Be skilled in welding and steel fabrication, and able to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Take a proactive approach to work and demonstrate a strong commitment to safety.
- Communicate well and be able to work both independently and with a team.
- Hold a current driver's licence.
