Mining Engineer (Medium Term Planning)
Visa sponsorship
Engineering · Brisbane, QLD, Australia · Full-Time · Discussed at interview · Visa: Employer sponsored
How development, stoping and services fit together will shape your work as a Mining Engineer (Medium Term Planning). This permanent position supports a large underground zinc-lead-silver mine in Queensland with a long operating life and several active fronts. Your schedules must account for ventilation, backfill, infrastructure and production readiness while meeting development and production targets.
The position allows a Brisbane base, FIFO travel to the mine or residence at the mine. You will turn long-range strategy into workable sequences, refine those plans and make them usable for short-term delivery. Visa sponsorship is available to suitably qualified candidates.
Use your English CV to explain the planning problems you have solved, the underground operations involved and your contribution to scheduling decisions. Organise your mining engineering record using Build AI CV, including the design software you have used.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain mine schedules and plans aligned with production and development targets, improving them as planning needs evolve.
- Convert Life-of-Mine and longer-term strategy into practical medium-term sequences.
- Optimise those sequences around stope extraction, development timing, available ventilation and infrastructure readiness.
- Prepare medium-term sequencing that provides a workable basis for short term plans.
Requirements & Eligibility
- Hold tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related subject, with demonstrated underground hard rock mining experience, preferably involving planning, scheduling or technical services roles.
- Have used mine planning and design software, such as Deswik, Surpac or equivalent, to plan development, sequence stopes and analyse schedules.
- Understand underground mining methods, development requirements and production sequencing strongly enough to interpret and integrate geological, geotechnical, ventilation and operational constraints into workable plans.
- Bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluating planning risks, recognising constraints and developing practical responses.
