Technical decisions, construction sequencing and cost control come together in this Brisbane civil engineering position. The team needs an accomplished Senior Project Engineer who can take responsibility for complex works while supporting the Project Manager and people delivering them on site. The appointment is permanent and follows a 2/1 DIDO/BIBO roster.
Your contribution will extend from reviewing drawings and resolving engineering queries to coordinating subcontractors, maintaining quality and tracking delivery against the programme. Safe construction and sound commercial judgement underpin the work.

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate engineering delivery on major civil works, supporting the Project Manager to meet safety, efficiency and completion targets.
- Review civil, structural and services drawings; ensure construction meets approved designs, specifications, budgets and project requirements.
- Prepare and maintain project plans, programmes and construction schedules, aligning the sequence of site activities with approved programmes.
- Give project and site personnel engineering advice, identify technical problems and manage queries through to resolution.
- Assist with sourcing and engaging subcontractors and suppliers, then track their performance, expenditure and deliverables.
- Monitor quality requirements and the implementation of quality control procedures.
- Support budget and cost management, preparing monthly financial reporting and forecasts of costs to complete.
- Identify construction difficulties, project risks and potential delays.
- Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, subcontractors, suppliers and other stakeholders, maintaining strong safety standards across project activities.
Requirements & Eligibility
- Hold a Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification, with a minimum 7 years' engineering experience in civil infrastructure or construction.
- Bring experience contributing to major civil project delivery and a sound grasp of civil construction methods.
- Be confident interpreting civil, structural and services drawings, with demonstrated success resolving engineering issues and technical queries.
- Understand construction planning, scheduling and sequencing, and have managed budgets for subcontractors and suppliers.
- Have knowledge of quality assurance and quality control systems.
- Combine commercial and project management awareness with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrate a commitment to workplace health and safety and the ability to work a 2/1 DIDO/BIBO roster.
- Have relevant Australian work rights or eligibility for employer sponsorship.
