From the first sheet to the final flashing, this Roofer position in Hamilton, New Zealand centres on accurate installation across large commercial projects. You will work with modern roofing, cladding and architectural systems, interpreting drawings and fitting materials around roof details.
The full-time role includes preparation, installation checks and related construction work, with travel between project locations as needed. Experienced roofers are preferred, while construction workers with transferable trade skills may also be considered. Experienced overseas Roofers may be considered for sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities
- Interpret drawings, specifications and site conditions to determine materials for commercial roofing installation and related construction work.
- Measure and cut roofing materials accurately for penetrations, vents, corners, ridges and other details, meeting project requirements.
- Position waterproof sheets and underlay correctly, securing underlay with suitable fixing methods.
- Set starter sheets in alignment and fasten roofing sheets securely with the correct overlaps.
- Fit and secure edge and ridge flashings while working with modern roofing, cladding and architectural systems.
- Inspect completed installations, correct problems and maintain a consistent standard of finish and workmanship.
- Identify hazards, comply with site and workplace safety procedures and handle tools, equipment and materials safely.
- Coordinate productively with supervisors and other construction professionals, travelling to project locations as required.
- Maintain a tidy, safe work area.
Requirements & Eligibility
- Proven roofing experience is preferred, and commercial roofing or cladding experience is highly regarded.
- Construction workers offering transferable trade skills may be considered.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications and accurately measure, cut and install roofing materials.
- Practical knowledge of construction site safety, with the physical capacity for roofing and construction duties.
- Good practical and problem-solving ability, attention to detail and a focus on quality.
- Effective teamwork, reliability and commitment to employment.
- Willingness to learn new roofing and cladding techniques and travel between project sites when required.
- Overseas applicants must meet applicable New Zealand employment and immigration requirements.
