Electrical changes to a rail fleet need sound technical judgement from design review through acceptance. This full-time Senior Electrical Engineer role in Brisbane, Queensland, puts that responsibility at the centre of major rolling stock projects, including modifications, refurbishment and reliability improvements.
You will assess proposed solutions, direct engineering activity and work with project specialists, contractors and maintenance colleagues. The remit covers engineering assurance as well as practical investigations, with safety, quality and operational performance guiding delivery. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical engineering contribution to rolling stock projects and assess designs, overhaul documentation and technical submissions.
- Align contractors, project managers and specialists so electrical requirements are fulfilled throughout delivery.
- Contribute to fleet modification and refurbishment programmes, including improvements to reliability.
- Carry out inspections, testing, commissioning and acceptance work; investigate equipment failures and develop workable technical remedies.
- Produce specifications, work scopes, procedures and engineering reports, explaining complex findings clearly to stakeholders.
- Track project performance, engineering quality and compliance.
- Engage maintenance colleagues, suppliers and operational teams in improvements to safety and asset reliability.
Requirements & Eligibility
- Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
- Bring extensive rolling stock or rail vehicle electrical engineering experience and strong knowledge of electrical modifications, upgrades and overhaul programmes.
- Have led engineering investigations together with testing and commissioning activities.
- Be able to prepare technical documentation, engineering specifications and scopes of work.
- Demonstrate excellent analysis and problem-solving, supported by strong communication and stakeholder management.
- Hold a current unrestricted driver's licence.
