Commercial cooling and ventilation work sits at the centre of this full-time Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic vacancy in Hervey Bay, QLD. The position covers installation, servicing and maintenance across commercial and industrial settings, with equipment ranging from coolrooms and freezer rooms to chilled water systems and catering equipment.
Fault diagnosis, commissioning and accurate service records are part of the work, alongside cooperation with technicians and project teams. Key Responsibilities
- Install, service and maintain commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment, including scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance.
- Investigate air conditioning and refrigeration problems, identifying mechanical, electrical and refrigeration faults.
- Install and maintain coolrooms, freezer rooms and associated refrigeration equipment.
- Fit and maintain commercial and industrial ventilation, including kitchen exhaust systems and specialist installations.
- Service commercial catering and kitchen equipment and assist with chilled water installation, servicing and maintenance.
- Test and commission systems, checking their performance against technical documentation, drawings and equipment specifications.
- Keep accurate service records and job documents while working with technicians and project crews on commercial and industrial sites.
- Observe Australian workplace health and safety procedures and develop technical knowledge through practical work and training.
Requirements & Eligibility
- A relevant qualification in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, HVAC, Electrical or a related trade.
- Practical commercial or industrial experience with a genuine, relevant employment history that can be verified.
- Evidence supporting qualifications, trade experience and technical skills.
- A strong understanding of HVAC, refrigeration or related mechanical systems, supported by practical diagnostic and fault-finding ability.
- Ability to work independently and participate effectively in a professional technical team.
- Commitment to safe work and quality workmanship, with effective communication and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to learn Australian workplace practices and pursue further professional development.
