Helping a new restaurant establish its kitchen operation is the focus of this full-time Chef position in Brisbane, Queensland. You will combine practical cooking with service coordination, supporting junior employees while keeping preparation, portion sizes and presentation consistent.
The role pays $70,000 - $80,000 per year. Menu development, stock rotation and waste reduction sit alongside the daily cooking work, so the kitchen needs someone who can maintain standards while managing competing priorities. Suitably qualified applicants can be considered for sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities
- Cook dishes to the specified recipes, maintaining consistent flavour, portions and presentation.
- Organise preparation and coordinate kitchen activity so that busy service periods run efficiently.
- Contribute to menu development and recipe refinement, and supervise and train junior kitchen employees.
- Maintain hygienic, safe kitchen conditions and ensure cooking practices comply with food safety requirements.
- Track stock consumption and ordering needs, rotate supplies and reduce waste.
- Support cost control and efficient operations through effective communication with kitchen and service colleagues.
Requirements & Eligibility
- A relevant cookery qualification is preferred, alongside at least 3 years of professional Chef experience.
- Practical commercial kitchen experience and a firm understanding of food preparation and cooking procedures.
- Knowledge of food safety requirements and workplace health and safety.
- Ability to balance competing kitchen priorities while preserving quality during high-volume service.
- Strong communication and teamwork, supported by a reliable and committed work approach.
- Experience cooking Mexican cuisine is advantageous.
- Ability to undertake interstate training when required.
