Diagnosing plant faults and turning technical findings into effective repairs define this Newcastle Crusher Fitter / Boilermaker position. The work covers mobile and fixed crushing and processing equipment used in quarry and mining operations. Mechanical servicing, hydraulic diagnosis and electrical control checks are part of the practical remit.
You will divide your work between the workshop and customer locations, including metropolitan, regional and remote sites. Clear service records and direct customer communication support the maintenance work. Sponsorship is available for suitable candidates who meet the required criteria.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain mobile and fixed crushing and processing plant, diagnose equipment faults and determine repair needs.
- Complete mechanical repairs, planned servicing and preventative maintenance to OEM specifications and approved procedures.
- Use hydraulic schematics, manuals and technical information to diagnose faults, conducting pressure and flow tests.
- Troubleshoot 12V and 24V electrical control systems using schematics, voltage checks and continuity testing.
- Inspect plant and complete pre-delivery preparation.
- Provide servicing and technical support at metropolitan, regional and remote customer sites, travelling to regional locations as required.
- Record equipment condition and recommend remedial work, preparing technical service and condition reports.
- Keep accurate inspection, repair, setting and test records, supported by photographs of completed maintenance and repairs.
- Discuss equipment issues and completed work directly with customers.
- Follow safe working practices in both workshop and field settings.
Requirements & Eligibility
- Hold a trade qualification in Fitting, Boilermaking or a comparable mechanical trade, with at least 2 years of post-training industry experience.
- Demonstrate quarry or mining fixed plant experience, including practical work on crushing and processing equipment and a proven mechanical maintenance and repair record.
- Understand hydraulic systems and fault diagnosis, including the interpretation of hydraulic schematics.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and carry out basic electrical tests on 12V and 24V systems.
- Provide trade employment and experience details that can be demonstrated and verified.
- Hold a Full unrestricted C Class Driver’s Licence.
- An HR Licence is desirable, and a Forklift Licence is desirable.
- Have the physical capacity for manual, field-based duties and willingness to work in metropolitan, regional and remote locations.
- Be able to pass a pre-employment medical and Drug and Alcohol screening.
- Bring strong mechanical problem-solving skills and a self-motivated, proactive approach.
- Communicate effectively and provide good customer service when working with customers and site teams.
