Standby generators and critical building systems give this Sydney Electrician vacancy its specialist focus. The full-time role suits an Electrician or Junior Electrician with genuine trade experience and an interest in controls, testing and commercial power systems.
You will service generator electrical components, investigate faults and assist with upgrades and commissioning on commercial sites. Work also includes emergency power testing during building shutdowns, control wiring and switchgear troubleshooting. Engineering support forms part of the working environment, with practical problem-solving and clear team communication central to the job.

Key Responsibilities
- Service and repair standby generator electrical components, including electrical work for upgrades and modifications.
- Assist with generator commissioning and collaborate with engineers on specialist projects.
- Test generators and emergency power during building shutdowns, including AFSS-related testing.
- Diagnose faults in generator controllers, PLCs and control circuits, investigating technical issues and implementing practical fixes.
- Test Automatic Transfer Switches and associated switchgear and troubleshoot operating problems.
- Use electrical schematics and single-line diagrams for control wiring, testing, telemetry and control-system tasks.
- Maintain communication with the wider team while carrying out independent work.
- Participate in scheduled night and weekend works.
Requirements & Eligibility
- You must hold a current NSW Electrical Licence (essential), with proven practical electrician experience and a verifiable employment history.
- Interpret electrical schematics and single-line diagrams confidently and bring a strong hands-on approach with electrical and trade tools.
- Diagnose problems effectively and develop practical solutions, working independently when needed and contributing to a small team.
- Experience of Deep Sea, Cummins, CAT or Woodward generator controllers is advantageous.
- Have an interest in PLCs, control wiring, telemetry and standby power systems.
- Full NSW Driver Licence required, together with the ability to drive a manual vehicle.
- Be available for occasional night and weekend work.
