Two experienced installers are sought for Floor Layer positions in Mackay, QLD. Joining a growing installation team, you will work across residential, commercial, retail and new-build projects, with carpet and vinyl forming the main installation work.
The role follows the job from measuring and subfloor preparation through fitting, finishing and rectification. It requires professional workmanship and the ability to work both independently and alongside an installation team. Suitably skilled overseas applicants whose relevant experience can be verified may be eligible for visa sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities
- Assess each work area, measure it accurately and interpret plans to determine the flooring materials needed.
- Remove old coverings and prepare subfloors for installation.
- Fit broadloom carpet with underlay and gripper, completing seaming and stretching, and install carpet tiles on residential and commercial sites.
- Install luxury vinyl plank flooring, cutting and fitting materials accurately and completing trims, thresholds and edge finishes.
- Undertake repairs and rectification while maintaining a professional standard of workmanship throughout.
- Keep vehicles, tools and work areas safe and organised in accordance with Australian workplace safety and flooring installation requirements.
- Work cooperatively with customers, builders and other tradespeople.
Requirements & Eligibility
- A minimum of 3 years' experience as a Floor Layer, including hands-on broadloom carpet and/or vinyl plank installation.
- Sound understanding of subfloor preparation, accurate measuring and working from plans.
- A demonstrated record of completing flooring installations to professional standards.
- A current driver's licence and current construction White Card must be held before starting.
- Good communication and customer-facing skills, with reliability and the physical capacity for flooring tasks.
- Ability to complete work independently as well as within an installation team.
- Commercial sheet vinyl experience involving welding, coving and wall vinyl is highly regarded.
- Experience in advanced floor preparation, floating floor and engineered timber installation is highly regarded.
