Finding the cause of a difficult vehicle fault and checking the completed repair are central to this Heavy Diesel Mechanic role in Geelong, VIC. A growing heavy vehicle workshop is seeking a qualified mechanic for full-time work on trucks, trailers and commercial vehicles.
The workload spans routine servicing, preventative maintenance, complex diagnostics and warranty repairs. Mechanical, electrical and electronic systems all feature, with technical standards, accurate records and workshop safety guiding each job. Suitable applicants may be eligible for visa sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out servicing, mechanical repairs and maintenance on heavy diesel vehicles, trucks and trailers, including warranty repairs when required.
- Use workshop diagnostic equipment to investigate complex mechanical, electrical and electronic faults, establish causes and recommend repairs.
- Complete preventative maintenance and vehicle safety inspections.
- Repair or replace mechanical and electrical parts, then test the vehicle or equipment and confirm compliance with technical standards.
- Document completed work accurately.
- Observe workshop safety procedures and requirements while keeping the workspace clean and supporting colleagues.
Requirements & Eligibility
- Hold Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Mechanical Technology or equivalent, with at least 5 years of practical heavy diesel mechanical experience.
- Have hands-on experience servicing and repairing trucks and heavy vehicles, supported by a sound understanding of their mechanical systems.
- Bring strong diagnostic and troubleshooting ability.
- Experience with multiple heavy vehicle brands is desirable; truck and trailer repair experience is highly regarded.
- Work independently and with others, with careful attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Demonstrate strong safety awareness, good communication and effective problem-solving skills.
- An HC Licence is desirable; an Automotive Air Conditioning Licence is also desirable.
