Experienced cooks who want a senior kitchen role may find this opening a good fit. A busy country hotel pub in New South Wales is seeking a full-time Senior Cook / Chef with practical experience on pan, grill and cold larder.
The successful applicant will assist the Head Chef and direct junior kitchen staff on each shift, with hours across days, nights and weekends. Sponsorship is available for the right candidate. Please note that applicants must be already living in Australia and available to come in for a trial.
Present your experience clearly in an English CV, starting with your pan and grill work, followed by your Certificate III and IV in Commercial Cookery and your cook or chef skills assessment. Prepare a well-structured pub chef CV with Build AI CV.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce dishes in accordance with the menu standards, recipes and Head Chef's instructions
- Track inventory and keep food wastage low
- Guide junior colleagues through cooking methods, demonstrating techniques where needed
- Allocate work to kitchen attendants and apprentices during each shift
- Ensure the kitchen and food stores comply with food safety laws on cleanliness and hygiene
- Support the receipt and inspection of incoming goods so that they are of proper quality and stored correctly
- Cook for diners with special dietary needs and contribute to menu development
- Adhere to food handling and safety procedures and notify the Head Chef of any incident
Requirements & Eligibility
- At least 5 years of hands-on pan and grill experience
- Certificate III and IV in Commercial Cookery, together with a cook or chef skills assessment
- Residing in Australia and able to attend a trial
- Flexibility to work day, night and weekend shifts
- Strong teamwork and communication abilities
