Australian public practice experience is central to this full-time Accountant opening in Wollongong, NSW. The financial services business combines accounting and tax with lending and financial advice, and seeks around 2 to 3 years of relevant Australian experience.
You will handle SME accounting work across companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals. An experienced Senior Accountant supports and reviews your work, with responsibility and direct client contact increasing over time. Employer sponsorship may be considered for the right candidate, subject to experience, role suitability and visa eligibility. The day-to-day work includes tax returns, financial statements, statutory deadlines and client portfolio support through Xero and other cloud systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Complete financial statements and income tax returns across companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals.
- Prepare Business Activity Statements and carry out accounting and taxation assignments for SME clients.
- Prepare personal income tax returns and contribute to year-end tax planning.
- Communicate with clients and liaise with the ATO when required.
- Organise your own workload around statutory deadlines.
- Use Xero and other cloud systems to assist the Senior Accountant with managing client portfolios.
Requirements & Eligibility
- Around 2 to 3 years spent in Australian public practice accounting.
- Experience producing financial statements and tax returns across companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals.
- Good working knowledge of Australian taxation and compliance, including BAS preparation, alongside strong Xero skills.
- Good verbal and written communication, with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to handle competing deadlines.
- Hold a tertiary qualification in accounting, commerce or an equivalent field; CPA or CA studies, or plans to start them, are highly regarded.
